About Dawn Geschwindt
Lifelong Berks Resident • Small Business Owner • Committed Community Advocate
I’m Dawn Geschwindt, and I’m running to be your next Maidencreek Township Supervisor.
I’ve lived in Berks County my entire life—born and raised in Kutztown, I raised my children in Fleetwood, and for the past 14 years, I’ve proudly called Blandon home. I’m the wife of Gregg Geschwindt, mother of four (two children and two stepchildren), and nana to six amazing grandchildren. Family and community are at the heart of everything I do.
A Career Built on Connection
For over 14 years, I’ve owned and operated my own hair salon in Blandon. Before that, I served clients in Fleetwood for many years. My work as a stylist has given me a front-row seat to the lives of our neighbors. Through those daily conversations, I’ve gained a deep understanding of the hopes, concerns, and needs of the people who make Maidencreek Township such a special place.
Education and Determination
I graduated from Kutztown Area High School and Berks Vocational Technical School, where I earned my Cosmetology license while still in high school. I then continued my education at Pittsburgh Beauty Academy, receiving advanced training and earning my teaching certification.
After going through a divorce, I knew I needed to build a stable and secure future for myself and my children—one that provided access to health insurance and a sustainable career path. I made the decision to return to school and earned degrees with honors from both Reading Area Community College and Kutztown University.
That journey wasn’t easy, but it taught me the power of resilience, the importance of hard work, and the value of community support.
After meeting and marrying my husband Gregg, I was fortunate to continue doing what I love—running my salon and serving the people of Berks County. His support allowed me to keep growing in the career I’m passionate about.
Why I Got Involved
My deeper involvement in local issues began several years ago when Maidencreek Township nearly lost our local police force. It was a chaotic and uncertain time that made many of us realize just how fortunate we are to have a dedicated, responsive police department that truly serves our community well.
That experience opened my eyes. I started attending meetings, asking questions, and making it a point to stay informed—not just for myself, but so I could help others in our community understand what was happening too. That moment sparked a lasting commitment to being engaged, involved, and ready to lead.
Community Service That Matters
I currently serve on the Maidencreek Water Authority Board, where I work to understand and advocate for our township’s infrastructure and environmental needs.
My commitment to community service began early in life through my involvement in Girl Scouts, 4-H, and VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America). While raising my children, running my business, and later pursuing my education, time for leadership roles was limited, but service to my community remained a constant priority.
One of my proudest accomplishments was co-founding and serving as President of Friends of the Fleetwood Playground, Inc., creating a nonprofit that partnered with the Borough and local organizations to raise funds and build two new playgrounds in Fleetwood’s parks. I also served for eight years on the Fleetwood Library Board, working to promote literacy and ensure access to vital community resources for families and children.
Ready to Serve Maidencreek
Whether as a small business owner, student, volunteer, or public servant, I’ve always led with heart, hard work, and a deep commitment to the people around me.
Now, I’m ready and I have the time to bring that same dedication to the role of Township Supervisor—to listen, to lead, and to work toward a future that puts our community first.
