Dawn Geschwindt for Maidencreek Township Supervisor

I’m Dawn Geschwindt — a small business owner, lifelong Berks County resident, and proud member of the Maidencreek community. I’m running for Township Supervisor because I care deeply about the place we call home and believe in leadership that prioritizes people.

For the last 14 years, I’ve owned and operated a local business, Hair Styling by Dawn, right here in Maidencreek Township, and previously in Fleetwood. That experience has instilled in me values of hard work, service, and perseverance. As a business owner, I’ve learned to listen closely, solve problems, and balance competing priorities — all skills essential for effective township leadership.

However, my connection to this community goes far beyond business. I grew up in Kutztown, graduated from Kutztown High School, and later in life, Kutztown University. I raised my family in Fleetwood, and my grandson here in Maidencreek, witnessing firsthand what makes this community special: the great neighbors, the pride we take in our homes and parks, and how we support each other in times of need. That spirit motivates my desire to serve.

I became actively involved in our local government during a time of instability when poor leadership and unfounded accusations threatened the integrity of our township. That turmoil nearly cost us our police department, put public safety at risk, and resulted in unnecessary legal expenses. I’m running to continue the stability and trust restored by our current team at the township, promoting a common-sense, rational, and transparent approach to governance — one that prioritizes the needs of our residents.

Local government should be accessible, transparent, and focused on solutions. This means listening to residents, showing up consistently, and leading with heart, not politics. I’m committed to working for everyone in Maidencreek Township, regardless of background or beliefs.

Together, we can protect what we cherish about this community while building toward a brighter future. I would be honored to have your support.

FAQ - What does a Township Supervisor Do?

While talking to people in the community, many ask me what does a Township Supervisor do. Here is the answer.

In a Pennsylvania Second Class Township, the Board of Supervisors serves as the elected governing body responsible for managing local government operations. As a member of this board, a township supervisor plays a vital role in setting policies, enacting local laws, overseeing the township budget, and ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of residents.

Key responsibilities include managing township finances, maintaining roads and infrastructure, regulating zoning and development, and addressing public safety and environmental concerns. Supervisors also engage with the community, appoint members to boards and commissions, and oversee day-to-day operations.

In short, township supervisors are the driving force behind local decision-making, working to improve quality of life and represent the interests of their community.
